and occupancy levels. Most are rented from Saturday-to-Saturday providing you
with a comfortable base of operations to return to each evening. (Remember

Activites / Attractions / Events:
|
Edinburgh Tattoo (Military Band Performance;
Edinburgh)
Members have attended this event numerous times. Known officially as the
Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, this seasonal attraction runs nightly
for three weeks, beginning in early August of each year.
If you enjoy pipes and drums and the pomp and circumstance of a kilted,
regimental band (several of them!), then you'll love the Tattoo! Outstanding
performances from some of Her Majesty's best musicians combined with guest
performances by bands from around the world, make for a wonderful evening of
music and pagentry. Secure your seats early... this is a very
popular event!

Jacobite Express (Train Ride; Fort William
to the port of Mallaig)
Members rode this train in 2004 and 2011. Better known to Harry Potter fans
the world over as the "Howarts Express," this train is pulled during the
warmer months of the year by a coal-fired,
WW-II vintage steam engine (be sure to check the schedule)
with passenger cars from the same general era. One of the engines and various
cars have been featured in the Harry Potter moives, as has the beautiful,
21-arch, single track bridge crossing the Glenfinnan river. With luck you'll be seated
in a car with the Hogwarts logo on the side! A wonderful (and historic) ride
for young and old alike.
|
Rosslyn Chapel (Historic Chapel and
Architectural Site; Roslin)
Members visited Rosslyn in August, 2011. Brought to the forefront by
its role in the movie "The Da Vinci Code", this 15th century chapel is
being painstakingly (and lovingly) restored and preserved for future
generations to
see and to treasure. The stone carvings inside and out, are simply
amazing!
